Smarty pants

Last week Kiley had her 2 month well baby check up. It's a little late because they had to reschedule our original appointment so Kiley is actually 2.5 months but she of course got rave reviews. She came in at a whopping 11 lbs. 8 oz. (49%), her head was about 40 cm (76%), and she is 25 inches tall (98%)!!!! They said if a 2 month old comes in at 2 feet that is a tall baby and she is even longer than that! The doctor checked all of the normal things and then developmentally wanted to make sure she was smiling and cooing, of course she had been doing that for at least a month and a half already, and he noticed that she is tracking with her eyes. He was blown away! He said thats not something they normally check for until their 4 month appointment! He kept talking about how smart she is which seems to be a common theme at her doctor appointments. We know this of course because we notice all the little things she does like hitting and kicking things that make noise, and she is now starting to reach for things she wants with some coordination. She hasn't quite got the grab down but she is close. A couple of times she has reached up to grab her pacifier in her mouth and ended up pulling it out and then managed to get it back in! Bubie, my grandma, calls her President McVicars because she has such high hopes for our smarty pants.
On a not so fun note, Kiley went from sleeping through the night to waking up every 2-3 hours again, and Mommy is exhausted! I'm not really sure what happened, if she is going through a growth spurt and therefore gets hungrier sooner, or maybe she is starting to teeth because she is all of a sudden drooling more too, but I can't feel anything in her mouth. I was hoping it was just because she was sick last week (and on top of being sick she had to get her vaccinations), but she seems fine now and still has this horrible sleeping pattern. Hopefully we can all get some sleep here soon, Chad and I both caught the cold Kiley had and we could really use the sleep to get rid of it!
We had a wonderful First Halloween with Kiley last night. The weather was perfect and we went to a local corn maze that they made haunted for Halloween with Jenna, Mark and the kids. Of course Kiley didn't really know what was going on, but it was great to see the older kids reactions. Mackenzie wasn't scared at all and in fact chased the scary people through the maze. Luke was trying to be brave like his sister but mostly let Kenz do all the chasing, and Logan was pretty scared until the scary people took off their masks. We then went back to their house and ate dinner with Grandma and Grandpa McVicars. Then it was costume time. Mackenzie was a scary skull monster, Luke was a Muscle man, Logan was a mummy and Kiley was a giraffe. A sleepy giraffe. In fact she was asleep before we even did costumes but woke up to see Gigi and Great Grandpa.
I knew she would pretty much sleep through trick-or-treating so I took some Halloween pictures of her while she was awake to give to everyone.
She was obviously the cutest giraffe ever: ) And I was impressed when we were playing photo shoot, how good she was doing with holding her head steady! She amazes me everyday.

  1. Ah! Soooo cute! Branson was a giraffe too. Perhaps they are destined to be friends with their giraffness and big blue eyes :)
