To my 3 month old

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

I love...

-when you fall asleep on my shoulder and the way your little body just melts into mine.
-looking over and kissing your perfect little cherub cheeks as you sleep on my shoulder.
-the game you play as you nurse where you look up at me, smile, and turn your head back to nurse again, then you look up, smile,....
-your beautiful blue eyes that everyone comments on.
-listening to you babble whether it's to me, to your dad, to a family member, a stranger, or even by yourself to your toys.
-waking up with you just so I can hold you again.
-how much you love to have your diaper changed, or just to be naked in general.
-when you reach up to touch my face like you're trying to figure out how to make the sounds I make.
-how close you are to laughing.
-how no one else in the world can turn your dad to mush like you do.
-how your starting to reach for things and will pretty soon be grabbing them.
-the grunting sounds you make when you are working really hard to keep your head up during tummy time.
-the very cute but very unladylike burps and farts that come out of you.
-your kitty noises.
-how you can make anyone fall in love with you, even the strangers in the grocery store.
-the peach fuzz on your head.
-taking pictures of you, you are such a perfect little model.
-looking at pictures of you from 2 months ago, I can't believe how much you have changed already!
-the way you smell.
-dressing you up in all the adorable clothes you have gotten from your family and friends.
-catching you having a good dream and seeing you smile in your sleep.
-singing to you, you absolutely love it no matter how bad I sound.
-taking naps with you. I think we both sleep better because it reminds us of when you were in my tummy.
-your soft baby skin.
-bath time.
-your bird mouth when you sleep.
-watching you interact with daddy. You two are so enamored with each other.
-how all it takes to make you smile is to smile at you, and sometimes I don't even have to do that to get a heart melting toothless grin.
-how strong you are. I think you can kick as hard as I can.
-how sometimes when you cry it's like you try to tell me why your sad, and I can just about understand you.
-how when your happy it's like you try to tell me why your so happy, and I can just about understand you.
-how interested you are in your hands. They can go in your mouth, you can touch one with the other you can hit things with them, use them to shove things like your blanket in your mouth and each thing you do can provide endless entertainment.
-how easy going you are.
-when you rub your eyes when you get tired, not only do you look so sweet but it helps me to know it's time to put you to bed.
-watching all your movements and remembering what is was like when you were doing that inside of me.
-all your words"ah" "oh" "ga" "go" "ma" "mo" "na" "no" "da" "do" "ba" "bo" "ra" "ro" "wa" "wo" and any combination of these.
-playing airplane.
-how much you trust your dad and I.
-knowing that because of you, your daddy and I love each other more than we ever did.

I love you more than you will ever know. It has been an honor to see you grow and develop so far and the best gift I have ever recieved to be your mommy. You have taught me so much about what is important in life and there is absolutely nothing more important than giving you the best life we possibly can, and supporting you in all the journeys you take. I know this parenthood thing will be the best and the hardest thing your dad and I have ever done. We will make some mistakes and we won't always have the right answer, but I promise that you will always know you are loved. You have made me so happy.

Love,
Mommy

  1. I am now teary eyed. A beautiful letter. You should print it and put it in her baby book :)
