I hate to admit it, but I always get jealous of other mommies who have their babies by 40 weeks. If they are at 40 weeks and 1 day, I totally sympathize that they are overdue, but when they complain about having to wait to hold their baby and being uncomfortable and they are only 38 weeks, I get that "Oh you don't even know!" attitude. Then I get jealous when their baby does get here around 38 weeks because I had to wait a whole extra month! If Kiley would have gotten here at 38 weeks I could have avoided the stretch marks, I would have had a better birthday, my mom could have spent more time with her grandbaby before she had to go home and go back to work. It shouldn't bug me, and I am truly happy for every mother who goes through child birth and holds their baby for the first time, but it bugs me. Anywho, congratstoanyonewhohadababyrecently.
Our whole house is sick this week. I think it started with Kiley, a slight cough, stuffy nose, and a sore throat, then it moved on to me, and now Chad has it. Chad is the worst when he is sick. He gets in a terrible mood and whines about feeling sick constantly. Last week we reached an agreement that Chad would take one of the nighttime feedings on days that we both have to work since I have been getting up 2-3 times a night and have just been a zombie all day. But now that he is sick he wants a pass. Last night when I nudged him that it was his turn he whined, "I don't feel good, can't I have a break just one day?" This was right after I had finally fallen back asleep from a one hour coughing fit. I gently reminded him that I'm sick too, before he got out of bed cursing the whole way to the kitchen, but it took everything in me not to jump up and say...
"WHEN IS MY BREAK? I thought the whole first 5 months that you didn't get up for a single shift and I did every feeding/diaper change/comforting regardless of whether or not I was sick, was your break. I don't think it's too much to ask that you wake up at 3 am 3 days a week, compared to the at least 11 times a week I get up in the middle of the night.Oh and in case you didn't notice, I still have to wake up early on those days I have "off" because a baby is a 24/7 job and she wakes up at 6:30 regardless of whether I have the day "off". I can't call in sick or go to the nurses office to get out of doing my work and have some rest and relaxation. If I didn't need the sleep just as much as you do to get better, then maybe I would be nice enough to just let you sleep, but you aren't the only one who feels like crap and in fact, you can't use the excuse that you feel worse because your cold originated from me, so I know exactly how awful you feel. I'm sorry you are sick, but my symapthy has worn out!"
Then I realized that maybe I am the worst when I am sick. Apparently when I get sick I get a temper and a low tolerance.
