My little angel has changed so much since she blessed us by coming into our lives. The most obvious of these changes are physical and we got to see her progress at her 1 month appointment on Friday. She now weighs 9lbs 1 1/2 oz, she is just about 23 inches long and her head is a little over 38 cm. That is a 30% weight gain from her birth weight (something the doctor was VERY impressed with), and almost 2 inches growth. Everyone that saw her couldn't believe how long she was and kept talking about how tall she is going to be. The doctor even predicted that if she keeps growing at this rate she will be 5'10". They also figured out what percentile she falls into and her weight is in the 46%, basically average, her head is in the 83%, and her height is in the 95%!!! Makes her sound like she looks like a lollipop but she is actually very proportional: ) Everything else at her appointment was perfect and she had to get her 2nd dose of the Hepatitis B vaccine. The nurse warned me she was going to scream, turn red and be very upset, and she screamed, turned red and then got over it very quickly. I was so proud of her.
The other changes that are not as noticeable but are even more wonderful, are her developmental changes. Here is a little video in which you can tell she is just soaking things in like a sponge...and at about :20 seconds, there is a little something I like to call "magic". In a quick instant she magically melts my heart.
At first I thought she was hitting her one month milestones, but the doctor corrected me. While at her appointment, she was staring at him to which he responded "That's exactly what you should be doing at this point." As he talked to her she started smiling and cooing and he said, "But that's not! That's something we hope you can do by your 2 month appointment!" From then on he couldn't stop talking about how beautiful and SMART she is. Music to a mommy's ears. He is a good doctor : )
In the last couple days we found out that Kiley has a favorite game.
Another observation the doctor made: she is very happy baby. Well, she makes us very happy parents.
