Oso Busy

Well it's been pretty calm and quiet on the blogging front because life has been the exact opposite. Out of the last month we have had one weekend home and there really is no end in sight. And you know what? I am A-OK with it. Last summer was spent pretty much on house arrest missing out on all our normal summer fun (weddings, 4th of July at the cabin, etc.) so I am living it up this year. Seriously, ask Chad how many days we spent last summer on our patio drinking lemonade watching the sprinkler system run. Yeah, our lawn was amazing.
It all started with a little birthday back in May. Chad turned 30 this year on May 23rd and for about 2 months prior I was sneaking behind Chad's back gathering friends emails and making plans, and on the weekend of May 14 a few of Chads closest friends met us in Spokane to help Chad celebrate. I think they had fun but honestly I don't know cause I was stuck in the hotel with the baby while they went out and played. My fault cause I planned it, but I was kind of bummed I planned this fabulous birthday weekend and wasn't really invited : ( Oh well, all that matters is that Chad had fun. We stayed at the fabulous Davenport (a splurge but so worth it) so that made it a little better. Got in on Friday night, Chad and his friends hit up some bars and then woke up Saturday morning for some golf. After golf we had reservations for dinner and drinks at O'Doherty's Irish pub (one of Chad's favs in downtown Spokane), but first we stopped at Red Robin cause everyone was hungry...I understand they ate at a few more places that night also. What's a birthday without eating 5 dinners?!? That Monday was our 2nd anniversary as well, but a baby and too much celebrating over the weekend made for a very subdued anniversary night.

The next weekend was Chad's actual birthday, so I threw a little family bbq. I know, my husband is one lucky man to get 2 birthdays for the price of one this year. I was also able to give him his present. I wasn't going small with anything else birthday this year so the present was no exception. My husband got a shiny new Ipad 2, which I don't think he has put down since.
The weekend after was Memorial day which is always a cabin weekend. This year was nice, the weather was less than ideal but it was really good to see so much family and Kiley is just going to love summers up there I can already tell. Special bonus: now that my mom and her husband live near Coeur d'Alene we get to see them whenever we go up there too!
Yay we got a couple of good family pictures!
 Love them!
Hmm aren't you a funny looking creature...
 I bet you taste DELICIOUS!!!

 Ah the life
The next weekend we went up to Coeur d'Alene/Spokane again for one of Chad's childhood friends' wedding. It was so much fun, and would have been better if we didn't have to leave the reception right after dinner because our child was pooped! I was surprised at how well she did though. I could tell she was tired all day and dreaded the melt down that was coming when she just couldn't take any more excitement. But the melt down never came. She was up and dancing with the other little girls and then she was out like a light. It couldn't have gone any better.
Just getting to the reception and already tired.
But still having FUN!

The next weekend...you guessed it back to Spokane, but this time it was just Jenna and I for a MUCH needed mommy break. After all the birthday excitement, and with a first birthday just around the corner (YIKES!) I needed some me time. We again stayed at the Davenport, went out for some yummy drinks and appetizers (read: bread and more bread), then woke up the next day and spent a good couple hours at the Davenport spa getting a massage and facial and hanging out in our robes! I know that isn't usually exciting but we don't get out much. It was just one day away but it made a huge difference. It was the first time Chad had Kiley to himself overnight and I will admit it I was worried. Chad has NEVER (ok maybe once) been able to put Kiley to bed. She doesn't associate him with calming down, he is the playful one, and no matter how tired she is, the instant she is put in Chad's arms she all of a sudden turns into a ball of energy. So I wondered how that was going to work. But I checked in on my way home Sunday and everthing was fine. Better than fine it was great. Chad had been saying for a while we need to just put her in her crib and let her cry so she learns how to go to sleep but I just couldn't listen to her cry so it never happened. But this was his opportunity to do things his way and me not have to listen to it. And it worked. Now that I've been home I try to do it his way as much as I can which has been hellish on a few occaisions, but I'm glad he laid the ground work for me. And slowly it has been getting easier.
Had to take a pic of my baby to look at whenever I missed her

Robes!

Last weekend was the one weekend at home (okay 2nd for those of you counting, but the first was birthday extravaganza so I didn't count it). And we did a whole lot of nothing (meaning I spent all weekend shopping and cleaning). Kiley made sure to keep it interesting. She took a tumble into a wall and we took a trip to urgent care. Luckily we were home and not in an unfamiliar city/hotel. She's fine by the way, we are just rookies and figured better safe than sorry.
This is probably about 1/3 of the size of the bump when she first hit her head
She was completely unphased by the whole experience.
This is her incognito look for the next week until the bruises go away.
J/k She wouldn't keep those glasses on for anything
And, like I said, no rest for the weary. This next weekend we are road tripping to Boise to see some friends, partially buisness related, and then rushing back for Luka's 1st birthday party. Luka (in the picture above) is our good friends Chris and Jennifer's son, who we love like a nephew, who really has been Kiley's best friend from the womb-born just 6 weeks before her, which means, things just got real. Kiley is turning one in 6 short weeks. Time to get cracking on planning her birthday.
Then guess what it's the 4th of July which means another cabin weekend. YAY!
