Our doctor appointment went as good as a doctor appointment could go. The doctor was fabulous, she sees hundreds of pregnant women and still made us feel like this was the most exciting thing in the world (which it is for us), we got all of our questions answered and more, got a little goody bag with pamphlets and hospital info and a pregnancy book, and to our surprise we even had our first ultrasound! We were only kind of hoping for a sonogram to hear a heart beat but they one-upped us and gave us pictures.
Meet baby McVicars!
The Doctor estimated we were at 12 weeks 1 day by the LMP and by the size of the baby and uterus possibly just a few days behind that. Which means officially the due date is July 25, 2010 but she thought baby might make it's appearance closer to the 28th. The baby measured about 5 cm (about 2 in.) and was moving around like crazy! It would push its hands out and tried to do a little turn and then turned back. Chad said it was doing the Chad dance. The best part about the whole appointment was hearing the doctor say that because the baby was moving around so much she could say the risk of miscarriage has gone down significantly. That if it was under stress it would lay still to conserve it's energy and it definitely was not lacking energy! Seeing that baby move was absolutely the most amazing thing I think either of us have seen and to hear those words took our excitement to the next level. We now feel we can happily say "We're having a baby!" and not have to worry about speaking to soon.

Hey there girlie! You look Fabulous! You made me laugh out loud about the pregnancy movies!! Hheheh! I am so happy for you both. Enjoy the moments--not the barfing ones!! I might be able to come a visit (if it's okay of course) around in the fall. I have had the toolbar with ya'll up for some time--just haven't been able to give it a look until now. Hang in there! Love to all, Aunt Becca and Uncle Tim (I think maybe Great Aunt Becki* sounds a bit weird ya know?)
